Stay Up to Date with Live Stock Quotes
To keep live stock quotes in a spreadsheet, the MarketXLS Excel add-in offers two approaches: =QM_Last("AAPL") returns an on-demand quote that refreshes when Excel recalculates, and =QM_Stream_Last("AAPL") streams a quote that updates automatically while streaming is on. Quote speed depends on the plan: US stocks and ETFs are 15-minute delayed on the Standard plan and real-time streaming on the Advanced and Business plans (see pricing). Each streamed symbol uses one live subscription. For setup steps, see stock quotes in Excel.

Real Time Prices Make All the Difference
Stock market volatility can make or break a transaction. Delayed prices can differ from the current market during fast moves, so active traders usually need real-time quotes while longer-term investors can often work with delayed ones. By monitoring live stock quotes and trends, investors can better gauge the market and make more informed decisions.
Live Trading & Technical Analysis
Live trading and technical analysis go hand-in-hand: for investors and traders, analyzing the stocks’ intraday movements is key. Live stock quotes serve as evidence of a stock or derivative’s behavior, and technical analyzers can monitor them to make better decisions.
Portfolio Management Strategies
Once you’ve gathered the information you need from live stock quotes, the next step is management. Portfolio managers take into account market trends and develop strategies to maximize returns. With the right approach and data, portfolio management can be done with ease.
Stay On Top of the Markets with MarketXLS
MarketXLS is an Excel add-in (Windows desktop, plus a Microsoft 365 add-in for Mac and Excel for the web) and a Google Sheets add-on that pulls quotes, fundamentals, technical indicators, and options data into a spreadsheet. Quotes come from QuoteMedia. On the Microsoft 365 add-in, formulas use the mxls. prefix, for example =mxls.Last("MSFT").
