Excel won't open after installing MarketXLS
If Excel crashes or won't open after installing MarketXLS, this is usually due to an add-in conflict. Here's how to fix it:
Quick Fix: Open Excel in Safe Mode
Step 1: Start Excel in Safe Mode
- Hold down the Ctrl key
- While holding Ctrl, click on Excel
- When prompted "Do you want to start Excel in safe mode?", click Yes
Step 2: Disable MarketXLS Temporarily
- In Safe Mode, go to File > Options > Add-ins
- At the bottom, select COM Add-ins and click Go
- Uncheck MarketXLS
- Click OK
Step 3: Restart Excel Normally
- Close Excel
- Open Excel normally (without holding Ctrl)
- Excel should now open
Step 4: Re-enable MarketXLS
- Go to File > Options > Add-ins
- Select COM Add-ins and click Go
- Check MarketXLS
- Click OK
If Safe Mode Doesn't Work
Uninstall and Reinstall
- Open Control Panel > Programs and Features
- Find and uninstall MarketXLS
- Restart your computer
- Download the latest version from marketxls.com/software
- Install MarketXLS again
Check for Conflicting Add-ins
Other Excel add-ins may conflict with MarketXLS:
- Disable other add-ins temporarily
- Enable them one by one to find the conflict
- Contact support if you identify a specific conflict
