Excel won't open after installing MarketXLS

If Excel crashes or won't open after installing MarketXLS, this is usually due to an add-in conflict. Here's how to fix it:

Quick Fix: Open Excel in Safe Mode

Step 1: Start Excel in Safe Mode

  1. Hold down the Ctrl key
  2. While holding Ctrl, click on Excel
  3. When prompted "Do you want to start Excel in safe mode?", click Yes

Step 2: Disable MarketXLS Temporarily

  1. In Safe Mode, go to File > Options > Add-ins
  2. At the bottom, select COM Add-ins and click Go
  3. Uncheck MarketXLS
  4. Click OK

Step 3: Restart Excel Normally

  1. Close Excel
  2. Open Excel normally (without holding Ctrl)
  3. Excel should now open

Step 4: Re-enable MarketXLS

  1. Go to File > Options > Add-ins
  2. Select COM Add-ins and click Go
  3. Check MarketXLS
  4. Click OK

If Safe Mode Doesn't Work

Uninstall and Reinstall

  1. Open Control Panel > Programs and Features
  2. Find and uninstall MarketXLS
  3. Restart your computer
  4. Download the latest version from marketxls.com/software
  5. Install MarketXLS again

Check for Conflicting Add-ins

Other Excel add-ins may conflict with MarketXLS:

  1. Disable other add-ins temporarily
  2. Enable them one by one to find the conflict
  3. Contact support if you identify a specific conflict
