Repair Excel / #NAME? error / menu not visible / functions not working

If you're seeing #NAME? errors, the MarketXLS menu is not visible, or functions aren't working, follow these troubleshooting steps.

Understanding #NAME? Errors

The #NAME? error typically means Excel doesn't recognize the MarketXLS function. This usually happens because:

  • The add-in isn't loaded properly
  • There's a typo in the function name
  • The add-in was disabled by Excel

Step-by-Step Fix

1. Re-enable the Add-in

  1. Go to FileOptionsAdd-ins
  2. Select COM Add-ins from the dropdown at the bottom
  3. Click Go...
  4. Check the box next to MarketXLS
  5. Click OK
  6. Restart Excel

2. Check Disabled Items

  1. Go to FileOptionsAdd-ins
  2. Select Disabled Items from the dropdown
  3. Click Go...
  4. If MarketXLS appears, select it and click Enable
  5. Restart Excel

3. Repair Office Installation

Sometimes Office itself needs repair:

  1. Open Control PanelPrograms and Features
  2. Find Microsoft Office
  3. Click ChangeQuick Repair
  4. After repair, restart your computer

4. Reinstall MarketXLS

If above steps don't work:

  1. Uninstall MarketXLS from Control Panel
  2. Download the latest version from marketxls.com/software
  3. Run the installer as Administrator
  4. Restart Excel

License Key Issues

If your license key isn't working:

  1. Make sure you're copying the complete key (no extra spaces)
  2. Check that your subscription is active
  3. Try entering the key again after restarting Excel
