Repair Excel / #NAME? error / menu not visible / functions not working
If you're seeing #NAME? errors, the MarketXLS menu is not visible, or functions aren't working, follow these troubleshooting steps.
Understanding #NAME? Errors
The #NAME? error typically means Excel doesn't recognize the MarketXLS function. This usually happens because:
- The add-in isn't loaded properly
- There's a typo in the function name
- The add-in was disabled by Excel
Step-by-Step Fix
1. Re-enable the Add-in
- Go to File → Options → Add-ins
- Select COM Add-ins from the dropdown at the bottom
- Click Go...
- Check the box next to MarketXLS
- Click OK
- Restart Excel
2. Check Disabled Items
- Go to File → Options → Add-ins
- Select Disabled Items from the dropdown
- Click Go...
- If MarketXLS appears, select it and click Enable
- Restart Excel
3. Repair Office Installation
Sometimes Office itself needs repair:
- Open Control Panel → Programs and Features
- Find Microsoft Office
- Click Change → Quick Repair
- After repair, restart your computer
4. Reinstall MarketXLS
If above steps don't work:
- Uninstall MarketXLS from Control Panel
- Download the latest version from marketxls.com/software
- Run the installer as Administrator
- Restart Excel
License Key Issues
If your license key isn't working:
- Make sure you're copying the complete key (no extra spaces)
- Check that your subscription is active
- Try entering the key again after restarting Excel
